The Iranian authorities have denied reports that Erfan Soltani, a protester arrested on Saturday during anti-government demonstrations, has been sentenced to death. Soltani, 26 years old, was placed under house arrest in Fardis and accused of participating in gatherings against national security and propaganda against the system. The Mizan news agency emphasized that if he is found guilty, he will receive a prison sentence, as the law does not provide for the death penalty for these offenses.

The protests, which began on December 28, were initially related to the cost of living but have spread throughout the country, becoming a significant challenge to the regime. In the context of the crackdowns, U.S. President Donald Trump threatened military interventions but recently stated that the planned executions of the protesters will no longer take place.
