Iran condemns the Ukrainian attack on a commercial ship in the Caspian Sea, which resulted in one sailor dead and another injured.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned, on Saturday, a Ukrainian attack on an Iranian commercial ship in the Caspian Sea, an incident that resulted in the death of one sailor and the injury of another. Tehran described this attack as an act of aggression and emphasized that it will defend its national interests and security, accusing Kiev of trying to expand the conflict from Ukraine.

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine in February 2022, Ukraine has been the target of Iranian-designed drones launched by Russia.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the Ukrainian government has observed "active satellite surveillance by Russia over Gulf states and the American military installations there. These images then appear in Iran." Zelensky mentioned that Ukrainian forces struck a Russian warship and vessels used for transporting military goods related to Iran, highlighting the correlation between Russian satellite images and Iranian attacks.
