Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian foreign minister, stated that the situation in Iran is "completely under control" following the violence that erupted during the weekend protests. He accused the warning from American President Donald Trump, who threatened measures if the protests turned violent, of inciting "terrorists" to target protesters and security forces. Araghchi claimed that the protests had degenerated into violence to provide a pretext for American intervention and mentioned that the authorities have video evidence of weapons being distributed to protesters. He assured that the protests are being closely monitored and that those responsible will be held accountable.
