Gen. Saeed Montazeralmahdi said the arrests reflect the public's awareness in providing security, noting that of the suspects, 260 are accused of espionage and 172 for illegal filming. Police set up more than 1,000 checkpoints during the conflict. Iran has also recently executed seven men for spying, sparking fears of reprisals amid Israeli air strikes that have resulted in significant loss of life.
