Iran intends to join the New Development Bank of BRICS, in an attempt to strengthen its economic relations with the member states of the group, against the backdrop of the war with the USA and Israel.

Iran is proposing to become a member of the New Development Bank of BRICS, according to statements from the central bank governor, Abdolnasser Hemmati. This initiative comes against the backdrop of economic pressures generated by the war with the United States and Israel, which have severely affected the Iranian economy.

Hemmati emphasized the importance of establishing monetary cooperation with BRICS countries, especially in the context in which Iran is seeking alternatives to Western financing. The New Development Bank, created by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, aims to finance infrastructure projects in emerging economies.

Although Iran is already a member of BRICS, joining the bank requires going through official procedures. Once accepted, Iran could request funding for various projects, including in the fields of transportation and digital infrastructure. Currently, Iran is facing severe sanctions that limit access to international markets, and closer ties with BRICS could provide a new source of funding during this difficult period. China remains Iran's main trading partner, and trade relations between the two countries are essential for the Iranian economy.
