Four people are being investigated by prosecutors in Rome in connection with the partial collapse of the Torre dei Conti, a fortified medieval tower, on November 3. The incident led to the death of Octav Stroici, a 66-year-old Romanian worker, who was trapped under the rubble for 11 hours. Although he was rescued alive, he later died in the hospital due to his injuries.
The worker was part of a renovation team for the tower, located near the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. The four suspects include three architects, including the project's technical manager, and an engineer, and investigators are looking into a possible failure in assessing the structural capacity of the building during the renovation work.
