Drivers in Indiana will benefit from a reduction in fuel costs over the next 30 days, after Governor Mike Braun announced the suspension of a 7% tax on fuels, equivalent to approximately 17.2 cents per gallon. The measure took effect immediately and could generate total savings of about 50 million dollars for drivers. Braun stated that this tax holiday is intended to provide relief to Indiana residents in the face of high pump prices.

Although the reduction may not be immediately visible at gas stations, authorities have assured that the effects will be felt in the coming days. The suspension comes amid rapid increases in fuel prices, with the average price of gasoline in Indiana reaching 4.14 dollars per gallon, compared to 3.47 dollars a month ago.

This increase is attributed to tensions in the Middle East and the conflict between the U.S., Israel, and Iran. It is important to note that the state fuel tax of 36 cents per gallon remains in effect. A similar measure has been adopted in Georgia, where Governor Brian Kemp suspended the fuel tax of 33.3 cents per gallon for two months.
