An incident occurred in the Strait of Hormuz, where a group of armed vessels attempted to intercept a ship approximately 16 nautical miles (about 30 km) north of Oman, according to an announcement from the British agency for maritime commercial operations (UKMTO).

The vessels attempted to contact the ship via radio, but it ignored the stop requests and continued on its planned route. UKMTO has initiated an investigation into the incident, which took place within the traffic separation system in the area.

The Strait of Hormuz is a crucial route for the export of oil from OPEC countries, including Saudi Arabia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Iraq. In recent years, there have also been incidents where ships were captured by Iran in proximity to or in the strait, in the context of international tensions related to oil.
