An employee of IKEA in Bologna, who has been working there since 2001, stated that he feels like he is in a horror movie due to stagnant wages and the increasing workload caused by staff shortages. In light of these conditions, the trade unions Filcams-Cgil, Fisascat-Cisl, and Uiltucs have called for a strike to demand the renewal of the company's supplementary agreement, which has not been updated since 2019, and to contest the unilateral decisions of management.
On the other hand, Inter IKEA reported a 26% decrease in operating profit, reaching 1.7 billion euros, due to rising raw material costs and tariffs in the USA. Although revenues remained relatively stable, sales at IKEA stores have declined for the second consecutive year. In Romania, the retailer recorded an 8.6% increase in sales, continuing to expand with new stores and order pickup points.
