Tom Homan, the 'border czar' of the U.S., announced that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is reviewing its recruitment and training protocols following the deaths of two migrants, Lorenzo Salgado Aurajo and Joan Sebastian Duran Guerrero, shot by ICE agents in Texas and Maine. Homan stated that the review is underway after it was discovered that the officer involved in the incident in Maine had a violent past. Although he acknowledged that the recruitment process is under scrutiny, Homan denied that the agency made mistakes in these cases. The deaths of these migrants have intensified calls from the Democratic Party and civil organizations for agents to be required to wear body cameras. Homan reiterated support for the use of these cameras, stating that the migrants would have been alive if they had followed the agents' orders.
