A huge block of ice, known as a serac, is blocking the ascent route on Mount Everest, affecting the peak season for climbs. Rescue teams, referred to as "glacier doctors," have not found a solution to bypass the 30-meter obstacle located below Camp 1.

They are waiting for the serac to melt, hoping it will happen in a few days. The delay in opening the route raises concerns about congestion at the summit, considering that climbers are in the acclimatization process. The Nepal Tourism Department is exploring options such as airlifting teams to expedite the opening of the route.

Favorable weather is forecasted until the end of May, and climbers hope to complete the rope-fixing work soon. Although the number of climbing permits has increased, the impact of the war in Iran on travel costs is being felt. Climbing fees have been raised, but a large number of ascents from climbers is expected.
