At the height of the summer season, Ibiza is facing a crisis in medical services, with more than a quarter of the patients transported by ambulance being party-goers, mostly tourists who have had adverse reactions after taking cheap drugs. Overstretched ambulance crews respond to around 70 emergency calls a night, with just eight ambulances available. Locals complain of rising prices and pressure on public services, and medical technicians stress that nightclubs should take responsibility for the problems caused by substance misuse.
