Hungary has declared that it will not send the Minister of European Affairs to the informal meeting on December 11-12 in Lviv, Ukraine, convened to support Ukraine's accession process to the European Union. Hungarian Minister Janos Boka stated that the proposal to advance accession without unanimity contradicts European norms. Although Hungary could send a representative below the ministerial level, Boka emphasized that he sees no political value in organizing the meeting on Ukrainian territory. Ukraine has been a candidate for accession since 2022, and negotiations have officially begun, but they require the agreement of all member states. Hungary fears that it could be ignored in the integration process, and Prime Minister Viktor Orban has rejected proposals to use qualified majority to bypass the Hungarian veto.
