Thousands of residents of Oleshky, a Ukrainian city under Russian occupation south of Kherson, are reportedly isolated and facing extremely limited food supplies. According to testimonies obtained by the German publication Bild and cited by Mediafax, approximately 1,500 adults and 50 children remain in the city, while around 4,000 other people live in the outlying areas.
The accounts describe a severely damaged city without electricity and with difficult access to telephone services. The roads around it are reportedly mined, making travel dangerous. Bild claims that Russian soldiers allegedly used drones against civilians and carried out looting and killings—accusations that have not been independently verified.
The last food delivery mentioned in the report reportedly reached Oleshky on May 26. An evacuation attempt allegedly failed, while a convoy trying to enter the city on September 1 was reportedly attacked.
Later, the Ukrainian army announced that it had transported approximately four tons of food by drone, distributing it at nearly 100 locations. Some testimonies mention people consuming grass and dogs. Rumors of cannibalism have not been confirmed. The exact situation remains difficult to verify.
