Yemeni Houthi rebels announced on Wednesday that they had attacked the Aramco oil company in Dhahran, in eastern Saudi Arabia, as well as an airport and a refinery in the capital, Riyadh. The group did not specify when the attacks took place or the extent of the damage.
The announcement was made by the Houthi rebels’ military spokesperson, Yahya Saree. He stated that the group would continue, in the coming days, operations against Saudi airports and oil facilities, warning that “the consequences will be serious.”
The Houthi rebels’ statements came after a series of strikes carried out on Tuesday by the Saudi Arabia-led military coalition in Yemen. According to available information, the coalition attacked a refinery in Sanaa, the rebel-controlled Yemeni capital, as well as two refineries in the west of the country.
The exchange of attacks escalates the confrontation between the Houthi rebels and Saudi Arabia, which is involved in military operations in Yemen. To date, no independent information has been provided regarding any casualties or damage caused by the attacks claimed by the Houthis.
