The Lebanese Shiite paramilitary organization Hezbollah launched rockets towards Israel on Wednesday evening, and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) began to intercept them. Israeli authorities warn that the attacks could escalate, fearing a 'significant expansion' of strikes from Iran and Hezbollah. The IDF stated that it will not tolerate harm to civilians and has begun attacks on Hezbollah positions in Lebanon.
Additionally, Israeli sources suggest that Houthi rebels from Yemen may intervene in the conflict. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened an emergency meeting to assess the situation. Tensions have risen after a ceasefire in 2024, but deteriorated following the military operation in 2026 against Iran. Hezbollah has rearmed, preparing for an inevitable confrontation with Israel, and the death toll in Lebanon has exceeded 630 people since the beginning of the conflict.
