Thousands of people in Hawaii have received evacuation orders following the worst flooding in decades, caused by a powerful storm. So far, over 230 people have been rescued, and damages could exceed 1 billion dollars, according to Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi. Authorities have warned that a dam on Oahu, the most populated island, is at risk of collapsing, and Governor Josh Green has emphasized that the storm will have "serious consequences" for the state.

Approximately 5,500 people have been evacuated, roads have been closed, and flood warnings have been issued for several islands, including Maui and Molokai. In some areas, rainfall has exceeded 25 cm and winds have reached up to 160 km/h. Although the worst part of the storm has passed, heavy downpours and storms are still expected. This is the most severe flooding in Hawaii in the last two decades, and authorities are urging residents to head to shelters.
