Hamas intends to turn militants into politicians, in a future administration in Gaza

A Hamas official stated that the Palestinian militant group aims to include 10,000 members of its security personnel in a future administration for Gaza, with the agreement of the United States. All candidates will undergo security checks. Israel has rejected any involvement of Hamas in this administration. The official emphasized that Hamas police have a good understanding of the conditions in the region and that their inclusion could prevent former police officers from joining radical groups, referring to the situation in Iraq after the fall of Saddam Hussein, when the dissolution of security forces led to an increase in armed opposition.
