At the opening of a special session on Iran by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), director Rafael Grossi stated that efforts to contact Iranian regulatory authorities in the nuclear field continue, but they have not received a response. He emphasized that the situation in the Middle East is extremely concerning and called on all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint to avoid an escalation of the conflict.

Grossi mentioned the recent attacks by Israel and the US on Iran, as well as Iranian retaliatory rocket strikes. The Iranian ambassador to the IAEA confirmed that the strikes targeted nuclear facilities, including the uranium enrichment site at Natanz, which had previously been affected by airstrikes.
