Germany intends to increase financial aid for Ukraine by approximately 3 billion euros by 2026, according to sources from the federal government cited by Reuters. This amount adds to the 40 billion euros provided by Germany as military aid since the beginning of the Russian invasion in February 2022. In the budget for 2026, Germany had already allocated 8.5 billion euros for Kiev. The government source emphasized Germany's commitment to supporting Ukraine in defending against Russian aggression, mentioning that the additional amount will be used for the purchase of artillery, drones, armored vehicles, and the replacement of two Patriot systems. Chancellor Friedrich Merz supports these plans, which are expected to be approved.
