Germany has announced the deployment of a group of approximately 50 soldiers in Poland, as part of a project to strengthen the eastern border, in response to concerns related to the threat from Russia. Poland, an active supporter of Ukraine, intends to reinforce the border with Belarus and the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad.
The German soldiers will carry out engineering activities, which include building fortifications, digging trenches, and installing anti-tank barriers. The mission is planned to take place between the second quarter of 2026 and the end of 2027, and approval from the German Parliament is not necessary, as there is no immediate danger to the soldiers.
