The German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated, ahead of the NATO summit in Ankara, that the Alliance must demonstrate unity in the face of threats from Russia. The official emphasized that Germany has doubled its defense spending starting from 2022, noting that these investments are necessary to strengthen European security and defense capabilities. During the meeting, NATO leaders are also discussing new military equipment projects, including the acquisition of refueling aircraft and surveillance drones, aimed at enhancing the Alliance's capabilities.
