The German Foreign Minister, Johann Wadephul, announced the closure of the Russian consulate general in Bonn, starting from September 18, and the termination of the contract with the "Russian House" in Berlin.
The decision comes after German authorities accused Russia of responsibility in the case of a drone loaded with explosives discovered at Leipzig/Halle airport at the beginning of August.
The Interior Minister, Alexander Dobrindt, stated that investigations suggest a hybrid attack from Russia.
The incident also involved a collision between a DHL plane and another drone, but the aircraft managed to land safely in Hanover.
Leipzig/Halle airport is an important center for military transport and logistics.
The Russian Foreign Ministry warned that Moscow will respond to these measures.
