Gazprom announces Ukrainian attacks on the Russkaya compressor station. The Russian Ministry of Defense intercepted 147 drones.

Gazprom declared on Thursday that Ukraine has once again attacked a compressor station connected to the TurkStream gas pipeline, which transports natural gas to Europe. According to the company, three Ukrainian drones targeted the Russkaya compressor station in the Krasnodar region during the night. Gazprom praised the Russian Ministry of Defense and mobile operational groups for repelling the attack. The Ministry of Defense reported the interception of 147 Ukrainian drones over 10 Russian regions, including Krasnodar, between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Ukraine's response was not immediate. TurkStream is the only remaining route for Russian gas exports to Europe after the invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Gazprom also mentioned that Ukraine had previously attacked TurkStream and Blue Stream facilities, and the Kremlin condemned these actions as irresponsible. These attacks occur against the backdrop of rising natural gas prices in Europe, influenced by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and Iranian attacks on gas infrastructure in Qatar. Ukraine and Russia continue to launch reciprocal attacks, with Ukrainian officials justifying them as reprisals for the Russian invasion.
