The Director of the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB), Aleksandr Bortnikov, accused MI6 of involvement in planning terrorist acts and sabotage actions on Russian territory, in collaboration with Ukrainian groups. During a meeting of the security services of the CIS, Bortnikov stated that MI6 supervises Ukrainian incursions in the border regions of Russia and drone attacks on critical infrastructure.

He mentioned the operation 'Spider Web', a Ukrainian attack on June 1, which he claims was supported propagandistically by the British. Bortnikov also accused the British government of responsibility for the failures in resolving the conflict in Ukraine, stating that their provocations and disinformation contribute to escalating tensions.

He suggested that the aggressive actions of the Anglo-Saxons could aim to create strategic uncertainty in Europe and direct European capital towards their stock markets.
