The French National Navy confiscated 4.87 tons of cocaine from a fishing vessel in the South Pacific, according to French officials. The operation took place on January 16, when the ship, coming from Central America, was intercepted.
In a statement issued on Monday, the High Commission of France in French Polynesia stated that the armed forces mobilized "significant human and material resources" to carry out this action.
This seizure underscores France's efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region, considering that the illegal substance was intended for the Australian market.
