France, the UK and Germany have conveyed to Iran the need for an immediate resumption of diplomatic negotiations on a nuclear deal. In the absence of concrete progress by the end of the summer, the three countries will activate the 'snapback' mechanism to reinstate UN sanctions. Foreign ministers held talks with their Iranian counterpart after recent air strikes on the nuclear program. Although Iran has shown an openness to diplomacy, a resumption of talks is not imminent, and without IAEA inspectors, reaching an agreement before the deadline seems unlikely.
