The French Foreign Minister, Jean-Noël Barrot, announced the summoning of the Russian ambassador in Paris to provide explanations regarding a "vast cyber campaign" conducted by Russia, coordinated by the FSB, which targeted ten European countries, including France.
The French authorities are imposing sanctions against nine individuals and four entities involved in cyberattacks aimed at obtaining sensitive information and disrupting critical infrastructures. Among the examples of attacks are attempts to sabotage the railway infrastructure in Poland. France claims that it has managed to detect these attacks due to the strengthening of national cyber defense. In the context of increasing cyber threats, Romania, as a member of the European Union and NATO, has included cybersecurity among its defense priorities, considering the heightened risks to public institutions and critical infrastructures.
