France announced on Thursday that it will not participate in "operations in force" to restore commercial navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, affected by the restrictions imposed by Iran in response to American-Israeli attacks. The spokesperson for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pascal Confavreux, emphasized that France does not wish to contribute to the escalation of the conflict in the region. Although President Emmanuel Macron expressed willingness to participate in a military escort system for civilian ships, this would require international coordination and will not be implemented during the hostilities. France's statements come after Japan and five other European countries announced that they are ready to contribute to ensuring passage through the Strait of Hormuz, in the context of energy markets being affected by regional tensions. Macron rejected Donald Trump's calls for direct military involvement, emphasizing that France will only act after the situation calms down.
