French culture minister Rachida Dati has announced an international architectural competition for the renovation of the Louvre, a project estimated at €700-800 million.

The "Louvre - Nouvelle Renaissance" project aims to revitalize the Louvre, the most visited museum in the world, to create a grand new entrance and improve exhibition spaces. An investment of €700-800m is planned, with a small part of the funds coming from the state. The project also includes solutions for building degradation and safety measures. A new type of ticket is expected to generate additional revenue, and the ticket price for foreigners will increase in 2026.
