Four men have been arrested by the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI) in France, being suspected of an assassination attempt against Vladimir Osecikin, a Russian opposition figure residing in the city of Biarritz.

The arrests took place on October 13, 2025, following a preliminary investigation opened on September 19, 2025. The National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor's Office (Pnat) opened a judicial investigation for participation in a terrorist association with the aim of preparing assassinations.
Osecikin, founder of the NGO Gulagu.net, is a human rights activist and was previously targeted in an assassination attempt in 2022, when a sniper shot at his apartment. A refugee in France since 2015, he has been wanted in Russia since 2020 and has helped several people flee the country after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
