Dan Caldwell, a former senior advisor to U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, was hired by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) after being removed from his position at the Pentagon due to an unauthorized information leak.
The incident was part of a series of scandals related to information leaks that affected the leadership of the Pentagon. After being escorted out of the Pentagon, Caldwell contested the investigation, claiming that anonymous officials had defamed his character. Exonerated of the charges, he was hired by ODNI as an advisor to senior officials, responsible for coordinating the activities of intelligence agencies and drafting the daily briefing for President Donald Trump.
ODNI emphasized that all employees undergo a rigorous background check to ensure national security.
