Bruno Fernandes das Dores de Souza, the former goalkeeper of the Flamengo team, was convicted for the murder of Eliza Samudio, a model and actress from Brazil, who disappeared in 2010. Her disappearance was investigated, and prosecutors concluded that Eliza was strangled, dismembered, and her limbs were fed to dogs, the rest of her body being cemented. Bruno surrendered a few weeks after the disappearance but maintained his innocence. However, a cousin of his stated that he confessed to being involved in the kidnapping and murder of the woman to avoid paying child support. Sentenced in 2011 to 22 years in prison, he was released after six years but was re-incarcerated after signing with Boa Esporte, causing public outrage. In 2023, he was released on parole but violated the terms and was wanted by authorities, being found on May 7 in Sao Pedro da Aldeia.
