The measure will come into effect next year and will affect iconic areas such as Palazzo Vecchio and Ponte Vecchio. Additionally, another 70 areas will have stricter regulations regarding outdoor seating and umbrellas. Locals, who requested these restrictions, are not completely satisfied, believing that the measures are not sufficient to reduce congestion. At the same time, the hospitality industry fears that the restrictions will affect business, driving away customers and reducing profits. The city's tourism department argues that these measures will protect Florence's heritage and improve the quality of life for residents. Decisions regarding the city's major squares remain pending.
