In the next four months, the area around the Colosseum and the Imperial Forum in Rome will benefit from special security measures, being designated a 'red zone' by the authorities. This decision, which will remain in effect until December 24, provides for an increased police presence and enhanced controls to improve the safety of tourists.

Visitors have frequently reported thefts of wallets and mobile phones, as well as scams and assaults, especially from groups of young people from outside the European Union. Prefect Lamberto Giannini emphasized the seriousness of the situation, mentioning a major incident on July 1, when the police were attacked by a group of about 50 people during an unauthorized party. The security measures align with a broader plan of the municipality, aimed at improving safety throughout the entire Italian capital.
