Ten Romanians have received expulsion orders from Italian territory and must leave the country within no more than 30 days. The measures, issued in Rome, also prohibit their return to Italy for a period of five years.
According to a statement from the Carabinieri, the individuals concerned have criminal records for offenses committed in the center of the Italian capital. The offenses mentioned include pickpocketing and scams associated with the “alba-neagră” game.
The Rome Prefecture issued the orders under Articles 20 and 21 of Legislative Decree no. 30/2007. The Italian authorities determined that the conditions allowing the ten citizens of a European Union member state to reside in Italy were no longer met.
The Carabinieri maintain that, through their behavior, these individuals represent a concrete, current, and sufficiently serious threat to public order or fundamental rights. The procedure was initiated following proposals submitted by the units of the Roma Centro Company, while the documentation was prepared by the Information Unit of the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri in Rome.
The operation is part of the daily activities carried out to combat petty crime and protect residents and tourists in central Rome.
