Monsoon rains over the past few days have caused floods and landslides in northeast India, killing at least 30 people. The worst affected states are Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura. Climate change is exacerbating the frequency of these phenomena. The Indian army intervened, rescuing hundreds of people and providing essential aid. A code red alert has been issued in several affected areas.
