Five children aged between 10 and 14 were injured in Austria after a war relic exploded during a camp.

On Saturday evening, in the village of St Oswald bei Freistadt in northern Austria, five children aged between 10 and 14 were injured following the explosion of a wartime relic, the police announced. They were part of a group that came from another area of Upper Austria. The accident occurred during a camping activity, and the police later discovered another explosive object near the incident site, also a wartime relic.

A bomb disposal unit was called in to handle the situation. Investigations are underway to determine how these relics ended up in the camping area. The severity of the injuries sustained by the children is not known, but they were transported to a children's hospital in Linz. Although accidents of this type are rare, Austria continues to discover bombs from the Second World War, especially during construction work.
