Finland has banned the use of its airspace for operations with Ukrainian drones, after two drones were detected near the border with Russia.

The Finnish Minister of Defense, Antti Häkkänen, stated that Finland will not allow the use of its airspace for operations with Ukrainian drones, emphasizing the need for Ukraine to plan operations in such a way as to minimize the risks of deviation due to Russian interference. On Sunday, Finland detected two drones flying over its airspace, heading towards the Leningrad region of Russia.

The Finnish Air Force intervened, scrambling fighter jets to track the drones, but decided not to shoot them down due to their proximity to the Russian border. These incidents are not unique, with Finland previously reporting crashes of Ukrainian drones on its territory.

The Ukrainian government apologized, claiming that Russia had redirected the drones. Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo discussed with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who promised additional measures to prevent these incidents.
