The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has expanded its investigation into the 2020 presidential election in Arizona, where Donald Trump falsely claims to have won.

This decision comes after the seizure of ballots in Georgia, as part of an investigation into possible irregularities.

The Republican President of the Arizona Senate, Warren Petersen, confirmed that he responded to a request from a federal grand jury related to the audit of the elections in Maricopa County. Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes stated that the elections were thoroughly examined, without finding evidence of fraud that would change the outcome. She deemed the investigation illegitimate, accusing federal authorities of weaponizing it in favor of conspiracy theories.

Trump was indicted in 2023 for illegal attempts to overturn the election results, particularly through a phone call in which he requested finding the necessary votes to win Georgia.
