European Commission to present a €1.7 trillion budget for 2028-2034 to redirect funds towards defense and innovation

The proposed EU budget for 2028-2034 foresees a significant increase compared to the previous budget, reaching €1.7 trillion. The commission wants to regroup existing programs and allocate funds to new priorities such as defense. This will generate opposition from farmers and regional authorities, who fear subsidy cuts.
