In its annual report, the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA) draws attention to the "wide availability" of psychoactive substances, mentioning an alarming diversification of supplies. European Commissioner Magnus Brunner emphasizes that, in 2025, at least 7,600 overdose deaths were recorded in 29 countries.

Executive Director Lorraine Nolan warns that drug markets are evolving rapidly, and consumers risk taking potent drugs without being aware. The report indicates a new psychoactive substance detected almost weekly, with 1,050 substances monitored. The increase in cannabis-based products and synthetic opioids raises concerns, and drug supplies are becoming increasingly fragmented, using various routes and methods to avoid detection. EUDA calls for investment in prevention and treatment for drug users.
