The EU bloc is looking for ways to increase funding to protect the environment, with a €37bn annual biodiversity deficit. The European commission will set up a group of experts to develop "credits for nature" methodologies that will allow companies to buy credits issued by farmers who protect nature. The initiative aims to recognize actions that support nature, inspired by the carbon credit market but aware of its challenges.
