The European Union is preparing new rules on imports of products treated with pesticides banned in the EU.

According to a draft European Commission document, the aim is to bring production standards for imported products, in particular pesticides, more firmly into line. This could affect suppliers, including from the US, creating additional tensions in the already existing context of trade conflicts.
