The regulation agreed between MEPs and the Council extends the gas storage scheme from 2022 until December 31, 2027. It introduces flexible measures to reach the 90% stock-filling target between October 1 and December 1, allowing for deviations of up to 10% in difficult market conditions. The aim is to ensure the EU's energy security and reduce dependence on Russian gas in the context of the 2022 energy crisis. The Parliament approved the draft, which is to be formally validated by the Council.
