The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of 'following in Hitler's footsteps', in an escalation of tensions between the two leaders. Erdogan stated that Israel has become a 'factory of suffering' that feeds 'on blood and tears', predicting to Netanyahu 'the same fate as other tyrants in history'.

The conflict between Turkey and Israel has intensified since the outbreak of the war in Gaza at the end of 2023, with Erdogan emphasizing that Turkey's security is threatened by Israeli actions. In response, Netanyahu's office accused Erdogan of antisemitism and genocide against the Kurds, deeming him unfit to offer lessons in morality. Erdogan continued to denounce Israel's actions in Gaza, promising that those responsible will be held accountable for their deeds.
