The regional military administration announced the evacuation of 525 children and their guardians from Kramatorsk, a strategic city in eastern Ukraine, following the intensification of attacks by the Russian army, which is less than 20 kilometers from the edge of the city.

The governor of the Donetsk region, Vadim Filașkin, stated that the decision is difficult but necessary, considering the deteriorating security situation. Kramatorsk is the last major city controlled by Kiev in Donetsk, with an estimated population of about 50,000 residents, including over 2,000 children.

While Russian-Ukrainian peace negotiations are stalled, Russian President Vladimir Putin continues to try to occupy the territory that remains under Ukrainian control. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky refuses to cede the Donbas, demanding that any decision be validated by referendum.
