Historic merger between SpaceX and xAI: Musk wants to launch a million satellites for space artificial intelligence.

Elon Musk has announced the formation of the world's most valuable private company, valued at $1.25 trillion, through the merger of SpaceX with xAI. The new entity aims to develop artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities in space, with the goal of launching up to a million satellites to transfer AI computing infrastructure from Earth's atmosphere into orbit. Musk emphasized that, in the long term, space-based AI is essential to meet the growing demands for processing capacity.

The project includes the creation of a "conscious sun" from constellations of satellites, using existing technologies from SpaceX. Musk mentioned that future launches of the Starship rocket will bring additional computing capacity into orbit, with the aim of sending one terawatt of processing power for AI annually. Plans also include the development of bases on the Moon and the expansion of human civilization on Mars.

The merger could attract the attention of regulatory authorities, considering a possible public listing of SpaceX. Analysts believe that integrating space operations with those in the AI field makes sense, although the benefits for users on Earth could take at least a decade. While large companies like Google and Amazon support the idea of AI data centers in space, there is also skepticism regarding the economic feasibility of the project.
