Electronic Arts (EA), known for games like 'The Sims', 'Battlefield' and 'FIFA', has been acquired by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia and Affinity Partners for $55 billion. The transaction was completed on Tuesday, after the European Union gave the necessary approval. This is one of the largest transactions in the history of the video game industry, and EA will be delisted from the stock market, ending a 36-year period of public listing.

Jared Kushner, son-in-law of Donald Trump, stated that the investment will support EA in reaching new audiences. Saudi Arabia has previously invested in the video game industry, under the leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Although EA's revenues have stagnated in recent years, the company benefits from a solid fan base. As a private entity, EA will no longer be required to disclose its financial results, reducing the pressure to meet short-term financial goals.
