The violin, made in 1894 by the luthier Anton Zunterer, is considered Einstein's first violin. The auction took place at Dominic Winter Auctioneers, where the instrument was sold for a record sum, exceeding one million pounds including commission. Chris Albury, a specialist in historical souvenirs, mentioned Einstein's passion for music, stating that he would have preferred to be a musician if he had not been a scientist. Other items, including a bicycle saddle, did not find a buyer.
